Filmmaker and researcher, born in Athens and based in Paris, France. My practice revolves around analogue film, blending experimental and documentary approaches to explore the intersections of environment, human relationships, and eco-cinema. Rooted in the evolving landscape of photochemical film, my work is driven by a commitment to sustaining analogue practices while navigating technological transitions and obsolescence. With a background in architecture (bioclimatic design and renewable energies), I later studied film editing in Barcelona and experimental cinema in Paris. For over a decade, I worked as an editor on independent films and documentaries before shifting my focus to 16mm analogue filmmaking. As a PhD researcher in research-creation at Sorbonne Nouvelle (IRCAV), I am working on the materiology of film, developing co-responsible and recyclable materials that could potentially replace celluloid while generating moving images. I have also completed studies in cinema direction and in Ecology of Arts and Media: Contemporary Aesthetics and Artistic Practices at Paris 8 University, where I investigate new materialities and ecological practices in experimental cinema. I consider the ecology of cinema an urgent issue. Addressing its technical, aesthetic, and anthropological dimensions through a systemic approach is, I believe, essential to fostering ecological resilience and sustainability in filmmaking.
