Nelson Urdaneta was born in Venezuela. He worked as a programmer at the Cinemateca Nacional de Venezuela. He studied at Eliseo Subiela Film School. In 2011 he participated in the Berlinale Talents Buenos Aires. In 2015, he won the prize for script development from the Film Institute of Venezuela (CNAC) to write his debut film "Sons of the Road". He is a founding member of the Chamber of the Audiovisual Industry of Tucumán (CIAT) and the Association of Audiovisual Workers (Tucumán Audiovisual). In 2022 he made the film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's story “A Clean and Well-Lighted Place”, winner of several awards at international festivals. The script for his short film "Hace Mucho Tiempo esa Mujer se Siente Mal" was a finalist in the script competition at the 28th edition of FESCILA. In 2024 he founded Rota Cine, one of the few audiovisual distributors in northwestern Argentina.
