Nelson Urdaneta was born in Venezuela. He worked as a programmer at Fundación Cinemateca Nacional. He studied at the Eliseo Subiela Professional Film School. In 2011, he participated in the 6th Berlinale Talents Buenos Aires. In 2015, he won the Script Development competition from the Venezuelan Film Institute (CNAC) to write the script for his debut feature film, "Los Hijos del Camino." In 2022, he directed the film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's short story "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place," winner of several international awards. In 2024, he founded Rota Cine, an audiovisual distribution company based in Argentina. He is currently developing the feature film "The Virgin of the Closed Eyes" which was selected by the "Call for the Strengthening of MERCOSUR Co-production Projects", an initiative that seeks to promote regional integration and consolidate new alliances between independent producers of the Member States, organized by RECAM.
