María Alejandra Rojas is a Colombian sound designer, sound supervisor, and re-recording mixer based in Mexico. She holds a degree in Film from Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogotá and specialized in sound at the EICTV in Cuba. She has participated in Guadalajara Talents and Berlinale Talents. Her work spans fiction, documentary, and experimental cinema, as well as television, podcasts, and sound art. She has collaborated on productions across several countries and on films including Heil Jupiter !, by Carlos Reygadas; The Blue Trail, directed by Gabriel Mascaro; The Tuba Thieves, by Allison O’Daniel; Frida, by Carla Gutiérrez and The Other Tom, by Rodrigo Plá, among others. Her work has been recognized at festivals including the Berlinale, Sundance, Rotterdam, Toronto, Venice, IFFI GOA, ect. She has received awards and nominations for her sound work and was a co-producer of Second Skin, winner of the Tiger Short Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. In 2026, she served as a juror for the IDA Awards in the United States. She also works as a lecturer, mentor, and sound consultant. She currently works through her company, Sonnet, collaborating with filmmakers and post-production studios internationally.
