Meryem Yavuz

Born and raised in Istanbul, studied cinema at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. In 2009, she was accepted to the Berlin Film Festival Talent Campus. Her cinematography work on many feature films (...) (Two Lines, Eye Am, Seaburners, Dust Cloth, Debt, Road to the Moon, Passed By Censor, Girl With No Mouth, Not Knowing, Suddenly, Not As You Think, Ayse… etc.) shorts (Nolya, Vanished Into Blue, Mother Virgin No More, Tuesday, Road to London, Oglago, Outskirts, Letters From Silivri, Mamaville, Pay Off, After Thirty Minutes… etc.) and documentaries (The Others, Amina, Love Child, The Guardian, My Name is Happy, Blue ID, Eren... etc.) has earned her recognition at some of the biggest film festivals in the world, including Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Sundance, Toronto, Tokyo. In 2020, she was accepted into the American Society of Cinematographers Vision Mentorship Programme. She is a member of the Cinema and Television Workers’ Union Turkey, Cinematographers’ Association of Turkey, European Film Academy. Currently, she is undertaking a project titled Our Seeds (wt), where she serves as both the producer and cinematographer. This feature-length documentary is in the production stage and has garnered support from IDFA Bertha, Sundance, and the Redford Grant Center. The project is being developed through the IDFA Project Space and Close Up Documentary Training Programme.
