Talents Explorations

Our focus at Berlinale Talents is, of course, filmmaking and all its wonderfully varied intricacies. But what is filmmaking without inspiration and exploration?

There is a multitude of aspects to the art of filmmaking, each as important as the next, which is why at Berlinale Talents we take a holistic approach offering no less than 13 professions a detailed programme tailored to their unique role, to hone their specific skills.

Before any such skills come into play however, our filmmakers need to be inspired to create in the first place. And that's where our Talents Explorations come in. We value the intrinsic importance of looking, thinking, dreaming, researching and exploring outside of the box, and encourage it both for our Talents and ourselves.

What follows are some of our more abstract explorations, where we encourage different perspectives, alternate worldviews and free creative expression beyond the realm of film alone.

Taking a step back and a few moments away from ongoing work, and creating that time and space to dream a little. I must always make sure to do this no matter how old or experienced I get.

Reflections on Reality

Reflections on Reality

Inspired by Studio Olafur Eliasson, we came up with a way for our Talents to connect with the world around them in between their virtual events. By looking at their environments from a different perspective, they can change the world while taking a break.

Dream of the Day

Everything looked a little different this year, including Berlinale Talents, so it was the perfect time for a new perspective. We invited our Talents to take a break, go outside, look at their local environment with fresh eyes and share their reflections, their Dream of the Day, with us here.
