Cesar Luna

Hello, my name is César Luna, I’m 37 years old, and I live in México City. In the last years I’ve been working in the exhibition branch, as operations director of one of the most iconic cinemas in (...) México City, called Cinemanía that celebrated 25 years of history last year. I studied Journalism, and since my early years as student, cinema represents for me an impulse to understand the social condition as a way to share ideas and feelings to touch the others´ realities. That experience and studies gave me the chance to pursue a more appealing career to the film industry in my country; that included a master's degree and management studies. In 2018 I moved to Mexico City to work in Cinemania as coordinator of a training program called Cinemania Coraje. There, we developed different activities such as courses, conferences, workshops, and encounters for students, moviegoers, filmmakers and professionals of the film industry. This year, Mexico is facing one of the most important modifications of his Federal Cinematography Law in its history, crucial to the public founds that support independent exhibition, and a more equity way to reach new audiences and a balance in the quote of Mexican cinema in its screenings. As part of this group, my colleagues have voted me as one of their representatives into the opened parliament that the government has created through IMCINE. As a citizen of one of the most violent countries in LATAM, films are not only a way of awareness, but a key element to be empathic with the social context, and an opportunity to be part of the social change through culture and cinematography art.
