
Born in 1987 in Istanbul, Ümit Erlim graduated from Kadir Has University, Department of Theatre. He completed his MA in Performance Making at Goldsmiths College, University of London with distinction. He worked as a writer, director and actor in the theatre company Company B in London for two and a half years and was invited to the Talents Programme of Sarajevo Film Festival in 2014. He has acted in the theatre plays ‘The Old Boy’, ‘A Very Special Service for Lonely People’, ‘Romeo & Juliet’ and ‘Treplev’, and in the cinema films ‘Pis Yedili’, ‘Yeşilçam’ series, ‘Nomad’ and ‘Nadide Hayat’. At the New Theatre Magazine Labour and Achievement Awards, he received the ‘Best Male in a Supporting Role’ award in 2022 and the ‘Performance of the Year’ award in 2024 for the play ‘Treplev’. With the same play, he was awarded the Male Actor of the Year award at the 8th Üstün Akmen Theatre Awards. He continues his PhD studies at Istanbul University Department of Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy. He works as a part-time lecturer at Maltepe University Performing Arts Department.
