Laku Rashmon

I have completed MA on Video Production and Film Studies from the University of West London, UK. Now work as an Independent filmmaker based in Khulna. This year one of my scripts own first positions (...) of Bengal Foundation Young Filmmaker Award, Dhaka and they will produce my debut feature-length fiction film. My films were screened in different film festivals at home and abroad. One of my co-direction films titled `The Trap’ won the Singer Best Independent Shorts Award by Festival Jury of 8th International Short & Independent Film Festival Dhaka, 2003. Participated in Talent campus at Delhi and Berlin film festival. Besides those, I actively participated in a month-long film production based workshop at the Asian Film Academy (AFA), South Korea. I was working in 4 TV channels in Dhaka as a Program Producer at Channel-I, ETV, RTV and Desh TV for 5 years. As an assistant, I have experienced to work with different directors in Bangladesh, Kenya, Qatar, and Germany. I already made 15 short length films which are different genre such as documentary, fiction and experimental. Return from England now I am working as an initiator to start a film institute in Khulna. Philosophy of my work is making low & no budget films out of Dhaka. Community participation in the filmmaking process, marketing, distributing, screening and training. Using the spirit and forms of traditional indigenous popular cultural tools. Don’t believe in filmy propaganda and screen politics. Have faith in media pluralism.
