My short documentary "La luna me sigue" (The Moon Follows Me) was officially selected for several festivals in 2019, including: First-Time Filmmaker Sessions / Lift-off Global Network-London, EDOC19 International Documentary Film Festival, Atuk Ecuadorian Film Festival, FECI Bogota International Independent Film Fair of Bogota, FLACQ Latin American Film Festival Cine de Quito, Competitive New Industry Oxaca FilmFest, El Ojo del Cóndor Kunturñawi Film Festival, and CODEC International Festival of Experimental Film and Video. It also received an Honorable Mention at the 2019 LA Underground Film Forum in Los Angeles. My work focuses on the possibilities of reverie as a form of queer autoethnographic writing. Within this space, trans childhood and imagination engage in dialogues with memory without a physical material presence. Trauma is the only writing that exists, and the body serves as its support, turning it into a memory technology. As a trans individual who spent their childhood on the peripheries, I draw on that experience to discuss violence and imagination from a personal perspective. I studied cinema at the University of the Arts of Ecuador, with a focus on direction and script. In 2022, I was selected to participate in the 17th Talents Buenos Aires/The Year of Discovery and attended the research seminar on Memory Technologies: Archive, Writing, and Attestation organized by the MUAC Campus expanded in Mexico. Currently, I am submitting my latest short documentary, “The Argonauts” to festivals. The film explores the emotional weight of war on queer childhoods. It was a winning research project for competitive funds in the Andean Region in 2021, and it was also selected for RED EDOC / MERCADO LAB consultancies in Latin America in the same year.
