The environment Matamba Kombila grew up in is one of a thousand realities, where the spirit world plays an integral part of life and oral tradition is society’s foundation. Matamba is a self taught award winning filmmaker from Gabon with a past career as events producer in the fashion industry. She is also an active advocate of Central African nature conservation with the NGO PROGRAM. Her work, which has been awarded several times, aims at triggering social change to create better more just communities. She has made her four short films between 2014 and 2016, "A Walk in Beauty", "A Walk in Purpose", "Télésourd", and "DD Teddy Bear" that all screened in festivals in Africa, the USA and Europe. Matamba produced director Ekwa Msangi's short film "Farewell Meu Amor", whose feature version is a Sundance Lab Project, and features "Matris" by Fernand Lepoko in 2016; as well as "Aping the Beast" by Yaya Zeevi in 2018. "Sens Dessus Dessous", her mini TV/Web series shot in 2017 is currently in promotion/distribution and her most recent work, first documentary "Mundele", is starting the festival circuit.
