Margarita Jimeno is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker based in Berlin. She directs fiction and non fiction films, long and medium storytelling formats. Her films have played widely in festivals such as Göteborg, AFI Fest, Münich Film Fest, CPH:DOX, and have been distributed internationally theatrically, online, and on television. By distributors such as Kino Lorber International, MUBI, and Netflix. Jimeno made her directorial debut with the feature music documentary, Gogol Bordello Non-Stop, which premiered at the Göteborg Film Festival and won several awards during its festival run, including the Sound and Vision Award at CPH:DOX. Her first narrative feature film, Grind Reset Shine, was awarded the gran jury prize of the US Work in Progress at the Champs-Élysées Film Festival. Both films are distributed by Kino-Lorber in North America. Currently Margarita is developing BOGUS a multimedia documentary project on deception, The Birth of History a documentary film on open source civic initiatives using technology to achieve a more horizontal participatory democracy. And a comedy fantasy feature film about two drunk ghosts. Margarita is an alumna of Goldsmiths University, The School of Visual Arts, the Berlinale Talent Campus, and Werner Herzog's first Rogue film school.
