Jeferson Cardoza Herrera

Founder of the colombian film production company La Banda del Sur Films, whose cinematic exploration defined as Popular Gothic, narrates Latin American contexts through the codes of genre cinema. An (...) example of this are the renowned short films “May 28th” and “Paloquemao: the vampire market”. The latter won the Colombian Academy Award for Best National Short Film, among many others, and was selected in more than 40 festivals around the world, including the 43° Fantasporto, 27° Regard and 37° Fribourg. He was selected as a director in the 16th Berlinale Talents Buenos Aires (2021) and as a BAMMER in the 8th edition of the BAM Bogotá Audiovisual Market (2017). He has contributed as still photographer in films such as “Memento Morí” (2023) and “Horizonte” (2024) and has actively participated as an audiovisual filmmaker in various events, projects and film festivals in Colombia. He is currently developing the slasher short film “Leave if you can” and his first feature film “Bloody petals”, in coproduction with Laberinto and Machaco Films.
