Talent Bio
Chan Tze-woon is a Hong Kong-based filmmaker whose works explore personal memories and identity, challenging the boundaries of documentary and fiction. His films have been exhibited at international festivals in Rotterdam, London, Göteborg, and Busan. His first feature documentary, Yellowing (2016), captures the urgency of the 2014 occupation in Hong Kong and won the “Shinsuke Ogawa Prize” at the 2017 Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival. Tze-woon's second feature, Blue Island (2022), is a hybrid documentary that takes the audience on a captivating journey through Hong Kong's past and present, winning the Best Feature Documentary Award at Hot Docs. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and an alumnus of the BERLIN AiR Artist-in-Residency program.
