- This is interactive VR story based on „The Machine Stops” – a science fiction short story from 1909 by E. M. Forster. The story, set in a world where humanity lives underground and relies on a giant machine to provide its needs, predicted technologies similar to instant messaging and the Internet. Forster points to the technology itself as the ultimate controlling force. As well as Forster’s predicting globalisation, the internet, video conferencing, and other aspects of 21st-Century reality, the restrictions, lockdown and social distancing made necessary by the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic are eerily foretold.
