What happens in a society in which an ever-increasing number of peole define themselves solely through their work? The top-architect, Sebastian Färber, lives in a secluded life without the need for family or friends, for the only thing that interest him is his work. The widespread crisis in the construction industry threatens his company. Färbers expensive designs are no longer accepted. He ist exposed to increasing presure. Following a preseantation, he collapses. Färber ignores the warnings of the doctors and takes on a new challenge: within the framework of a secret construction projecht it is planned to design a terrorist-proof city of the future. Färber is invited to participate in a planning group comprised of experts. But he soon suspects that he is kept in the dark about the true aims of the project manager, Leonhard.
