SynopsisPILÈ ('Little Bird') is a short drama that captures a moment in a boy’s life where his masculinity and morality are in opposition, and he is forced to make a decision, which culminates in an unexpected outcome.
Alex is 12 and visiting his uncle and auntie’s farm with his parents and sister. He is close to his mother, who affectionately refers to him as “pilè”, but feels somewhat detached from his father. Zara, his older sister, is much more assertive and ‘boyish’. He yearns for the closeness she has with their father.
On this particular afternoon, he is given an unexpected opportunity to connect with his father and assert his dominance. Alex takes a stand, choosing to follow his own moral compass, with consequences that surprise even him.
The film is based on a childhood experience of the director/writer.
