SynopsisTINA, a troubled teenage girl, is attracted to DANA, an Afghani girl, whom Tina imagines is oppressively victimised by her controlling substance abusing father, KARIM. Initially, we trust Tina and admire her protectiveness of Dana from the other kids at school and on the violent estate, but as we watch their friendship blossom we come to suspect that something is off. Our fears are answered when Tina wrongly suspects that Dana’s betrayed her for a boy. Enraged,Tina pushes Dana from a balcony to her death. However, as we witness the intolerant community mistakenly place the blame upon Karim, we realise that the abusive horrors Tina led us to believe were inflicted upon Dana are actually a projection of what Tina is personally enduring. We are confronted by the fact that while Tina has got away with murder, she too is a victim and a dangerous product of a society that fails to see reality with an unprejudiced eye, leaving us questioning on whose shoulders we can place blame.
