A film historian and former international publishing director of Variety magazine, Peter Cowie has written more than 30 books on major figures and eras of world cinema, including Bergman, Welles, Coppola and Kurosawa. He published and edited the annual International Film Guide for 40 years and has contributed numerous commentaries to Criterion’s DVD collection. He has been a consultant to Berlinale Talents since the programme’s inception in 2003.

Charlotte Rampling’s body of work amounts to more than a 100 film and television productions, for which she is the recipient of this year’s Honorary Golden Bear of the Berlinale. Her international breakthrough came with THE NIGHT PORTER in 1974. A career of highpoints followed: THE DAMNED, STARDUST MEMORIES, UNDER THE SAND and SWIMMING POOL, the latter winning Best Actress at the European Film Awards. She has often chosen to embody multifaceted and unconventional figures, which, in her own words, she brings to the screen with an absolute “honesty of feeling.”
