Mastercard

Doing well by doing good is the maxim of Berlinale Talents and Mastercard in creating sustainable change. The Talents Footprints - Mastercard Enablement Programme helps filmmakers achieve social impact through financial support, mentorship and public awareness. Mastercard’s Jessica Claar explains: "For us, filmmakers are motors for change, not just by what they bring to the screen, but also for their ideas on how to create a fairer world in which to live and work. With our programme, we hope to encourage and support you in leaving behind your footprint."

The Talents Footprints - Mastercard Enablement Programme returned for a third year, with three new fellows selected by a prestigious jury. The fellows were announced at the Dine & Shine on February 19, and both the jury and the fellows joined us on February 20 for a panel discussion titled Step by Step: Solutions for Sustainability.

Mastercard Enablement Programme 2023

For the 2023 selection, actor Honor Swinton Byrne (The Souvenir), Marene Arnold (Vice President Marketing & Communications Mastercard DACH) and Hania Mroué (Director Metropolis Cinema Beirut) were appointed to the jury. The trio selected three fellows from applicants from the international Berlinale Talents Alumni Community who, beyond their cinematic projects, have initiated social organisations, cultural networks or educational programmes themselves and are thus actively committed to gender equality, ecological sustainability and inclusion in the film industry in the long term. The announcement of the fellows took place in the presence of the jury during the Dine&Shine dinner on 19 February 2023.
