Editing Workshop

In this intensive workshop, expert mentors with backgrounds in both fiction and documentary filmmaking engage and inspire Talents to explore the ethics and politics of the editing room.

The Workshop is an editing room of sorts, where everyone gets to voice an opinion in search of the best solution. Discussions depart from samples of the Talents' own work and cover the many challenges and merits of working alongside directors, screenwriters and producers.

Talent comes with the responsibility to share, and at the Workshops you are invited to give your best to receive a lot in response. In this way, the Workshops form one part of the entire Summit experience. Where the six-day Summit offers a breadth of opportunity to learn new things beyond your individual expertise, hear new opinions, experience new techniques and ideas, the Workshops are a microscope on your specific field of work, deepening and strengthening your overall Berlinale Talents experience.

I loved to see that we all have the same questions, experiences and struggles even when we are from all over the world. To exchange and share was really interesting.
I left with various reflections on the craft of editing, how to handle problems, and, at the same time, the certainty of knowing that we are not alone.
