Akosua Adoma Owusu

Akosua Adoma Owusu is a Ghanaian-American filmmaker, artist and educator. She was named by IndieWire as one of the 6 pre-eminent “Avant-Garde Female Filmmakers Who Redefined Cinema”. Her short film “Kwaku Ananse” premiered at Berlinale Shorts. It won the Africa Movie Academy Award and was selected for the Venice Biennale. “RELUCTANTLY QUEER” was also selected for Berlinale Shorts, and nominated for the Teddy Award. Before joining the faculty at Georgetown University, she has previously taught at Harvard University and the Pratt Institute in New York.
