Marina Meira is a Brazilian director and scriptwriter based in Cuba, with a degree in Journalism and a master's in Audiovisual Scriptwriting from the International School of Film and TV in San Antonio de los Baños. Her creations and concerns are situated in the spaces between words and images. Her first short film as a scriptwriter, "As Aventuras de Pety", was recognized and awarded Best Script and Best Film at the Festival de Cinema dos Sertões, and her first feature-length script, "A Máquina de Fazer Dinheiro", was a finalist at Guiones Lisboa 2019. She co-founded the scriptwriting nucleus Maquinário Narrativo, one of the first Brazilian ventures focused exclusively on creating and developing scripts for film and TV. In 2024, she was one of the selected participants for the Talents Rio, Desenho de Audiencia program. She was part of the curatorship for the FRAPA and ROTA script competitions. She has also participated in the Pajubá Lab and Cabíria Lab workshops, focused on strengthening LGBTI+ narratives and stimulating stories with female protagonists in their diversity. She made her directorial debut with the creative duo alongside Aria Sánchez with the short film "Primera Enseñanza" (78th Locarno Festival), awarded Best Direction at the Pardi di Domani showcase, repeating the award at the Doha Film Festival 2025 and also recognized with the Special Jury Prize at the 15th International Crime and Punishment Film Festival in Istanbul. Among the duo's upcoming projects are the short film "Leonas" (Norwegian Fund for Cuban Cinema and Bogoshorts Incubadora BFM), and the feature films in development, "Debajo de mi cama duerme una jirafa" (19th edition of the Nuevas Miradas market space) and "La máquina de hacer dinero" (script finalist at the Guiones de Lisboa competition, 2019).
