Emilija Gašić

Emilija Gašić is an award-winning Serbian filmmaker and photographer, born in Yugoslavia. She graduated with an MFA in Cinematography from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and holds a BFA in Film (...) Directing from the Academy of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia. Recently awarded with Vanguard Award at Vancouver International Film Festival and Discovery Prize at Seoul International Women’s Film Festival, Emilija’s debut feature 78 DAYS, supported by Film Center Serbia and AVCRS world-premiered at Rotterdam IFFR in the Bright Future section. It was in the top twenty most watched films during the Rotterdam IFFR and was award the Best Film Prize at Cyprus Film Days, Tofifest, Innsbruck International Film Festival and many others. As a cinematographer, Emilija is passionate about working on film and does a lot of film photography, experimenting with different formats. She shot films in the USA, France, Norway and Czech Republic. She is a Nikon Storytellers Award recipient and a finalist for the Volker Bahnemann for Outstanding Cinematography. Her cinematography work has screened at New York Shorts International Short, Hollyshorts, Dances with Films any many other film festivals. Emilija’s analogue photography traveling exhibition IN | BETWEEN started in Serbia, with parts of it being showcased in Hackney Studios in London and in its entirety at Culture Lab in New York City in 2021. She is the co-founder of Istok Films with Alex Wiske. She resides between New York City and Belgrade. Emilija is currently developing her sophomore feature WOLF DAYS (Torino ScriptLab 2025)
