CHU Hoi-ying is an emerging film director based in Hong Kong. She earned her MFA from the Academy of Film of Hong Kong Baptist University in 2014. Her work focuses on the nuanced complexities of family and relationships. Her short film 3 Generations 3 Days (2019) won Best Live Action Short Film at the 56th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards, Best Director and Fresh Wave Award at the 13th Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival, and was premiered in the U.S. at the 2020 Palm Springs International ShortFest. She was an editor of the documentary I’ve Got the Blues (2017, dir Angie Chen). Chu became a member of the Asian Film Academy at Busan International Film Festival in 2016, the International Film Business Academy at Busan Asian Film School and the Taiwan Golden Horse Film Academy in 2019. In 2020, she was selected into Berlinale Talents and Bucheon Fantastic Film School.
