Aldonza Contreras Castro

Aldonza is a multifaceted Mexican artist with a rich background in sound design, visual arts, and anthropology. Her work intricately weaves together these disciplines, often focusing on human (...) interactions and historical narratives. Since 2010, Aldonza has worked in various films such as sound designer, sound editor, foley artist, and location recordist. Her creative practice is split between Mexico City and Berlin. Durante dos años consecutivos, tuve el honor de participar como diseñadora de sonido en dos películas que fueron seleccionadas para estrenarse en el Sundance Film Festival: la ficción Dos Estaciones y el documental Igualada. Además, ambas películas han tenido un recorrido destacado en diversos festivales internacionales y se han proyectado en salas comerciales. In July 2022, Aldonza showcased her audiovisual piece titled "Suficiente" at the Brot Und Kunst Museum in Ulm, Germany, as part of the collective exhibition 60×60. Later that year, in October 2022, she debuted her first solo exhibition, "Sound Memories of 1968," an immersive sound installation in Tlatelolco, Mexico City. The work demonstrates her commitment to exploring and preserving cultural memory through innovative artistic mediums.
