The upcoming edition of Talents Tokyo will invite 15 participants to explore the theme “Identify the Essence.” In light of this theme, each filmmaker will have the opportunity to present his or her own project.
Talents Tokyo 2017 offers lectures, presentation training and master classes given by noted film experts who are active and respected in the industry. This year’s experts will include director Pen-ek Ratanaruang, producer Cedomir Kolar and world sales agent Frédéric Corvez. Several “Meet the Experts” sessions will give participants the chance to engage with Richard Lormand (communication strategist at Film Press Plus) and with sound designer and music producer Yasuhiro Morinaga.
In addition, Talents Tokyo alumna and director Mouly Surya, whose latest feature Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts premiered in Cannes and will screen in competition at TOKYO FILMeX this year, will share insights into her work with participants.

Directors and producers from Brunei, Cambodia, China, China Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China Macao Special Administrative Region, East-Timor, Indonesia, Japan, Laos People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Talents Tokyo is organised by the Talents Tokyo Organising Committee (TOKYO FILMeX) in cooperation with Berlinale Talents and the Goethe-Institut Tokyo.
