The theme of Talents Buenos Aires 2019 was a homage to the film Too Late to Die Young by Chilean alumna Dominga Sotomayor, who won the Best Director award at the 2018 Locarno Festival.
The theme was an open invitation to the next generation of South American filmmakers to critically reflect on the current state of cinema across the continent, to overcome old structures and to develop vital new narrative, production and distribution forms.
Starting last year, art directors were also invited to apply.
Who can apply?
Screenwriters, directors, producers, actors, cinematographers, art directors, editors, sound designers, programmers/curators and film critics from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Talents Buenos Aires is an initiative of Universidad del Cine in cooperation with Berlinale Talents, BAFICI, the Buenos Aires Film Lab (BAL), the Goethe-Institut Buenos Aires and Mecenazgo Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
