10.02.2015 - Peter Cowie, Howard Shore
Star composer Howard Shore has achieved worldwide renown for his work on such films as HUGO and THE AVIATOR (Martin Scorsese), THE LORD OF THE RINGS and THE HOBBIT trilogies (Peter Jackson), SE7EN (David Fincher) and THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (Jonathan Demme), amongst others. He has scored 15 films by David Cronenberg, including his latest MAPS TO THE STARS. Shore is the recipient of three Academy Awards, three Golden Globes and four Grammy Awards. In this master class, Shore will elaborate on how sound and score shape the visual onscreen cinematic world and the spaces in which stories unfold. His experience scoring multiple films with auteur directors sheds light on the working relationship between director and composer, as well as how sound and music can create a "meta space" between the works of a trilogy or a director’s oeuvre.
