The winners of the Berlin Today Award 2005 are Samuli Valkama (Director) & Roman Sorger (Creative Producer) for their poetic lovestory Alright Love.

Laudatio: "We all know the story boy meets girl but this one is extremely funny and magic. Excellent directed, excellent actors, excellent camera work, excellent sound design. A magic love story told without dialogues, just pictures and sounds. We all know how difficult that is. Congratulations!"

Finalists

If I were a fish

by Tomasz Wolski (Poland) and Karina Griffith (Canada)

For years Berlin has been the place most Poles wanted to go to for work. Some only came here to earn money and then went back home. Others found their new home here. Miroslaw is one of them. The director visits him to learn how his life is looking now after 16 years of life in Berlin.

Bucuresti – Berlin

by Anca Miruna Lazarescu (Germany) and Cristian Mungiu (Romania)

Ioana, a young Romanian woman, wants to try her luck in Berlin. But her luck is hiding. First, she is being stood up by her friend Tomescu, and then she learns that Gartenstrasse – where Tomescu is supposed to live – is a name that exists 11 times in the city. She gives all of her savings to the Turkish cab driver Kürün, and together they start the search.
