Kill Your Darlings

08.02.2015 - Susan Korda

“Good editing is like good sex,” exclaims noted editor and director Susan Korda (ONE OF US), and in this master class she proves just how. Through selected clips from BONNIE & CLYDE, JAWS, SE7EN, ALIEN 3 and FOR ALL MANKIND, Korda demonstrates the multifaceted techniques used to merge sound, image and timing to bring about the intended cinematic experience. She'll lay bare the secrets of the editing room and the editor’s tricks to make a film work. To “kill your darlings,” or the critical ability to surrender preconceived notions and petty preferences and select the material that best allows your story to unfold, is a primary focus of the session. An extended Q&A with the audience will delve deeper into the topics raised.
